Clinical Nurse Specialst - Operating Theatre, Burwood Hospital

We are seeking an
enthusiastic and motivated Clinical Nurse Specialist who will enjoy leading our
team of health professionals in this fast paced and challenging
environment.
About You
This role will keep Registered and Enrolled Nurses and Operating Suite Assistants up to date with the skills required to work within the operating theatre environment. You will spend time on the floor leading care and identifying areas for improvement.
The CNS will be working alongside members of our senior nursing team to provide a consistent approach to care delivery across the service. You will be expected to participate in quality projects and in the development of clinical pathways with the perioperative specialty. You will also be responsible for equipment, consumables, and preference books alongside being the key link to the surgeons related to the surgical specialities at Burwood Operating Theatre.
- You will be an experienced practitioner with expert knowledge and skills in Peri-operative nursing.
- Extensive surgical experience in several settings would be advantageous.
- You should have proven leadership ability and be able to demonstrate that you are adaptable, flexible to achieve solution focused outcomes.
- Motivated and flexible self-starter with the ability to work both in a team and autonomously.
- You will act as a specialist resource for other nurses, medical practitioners, and patients.
- Have quality improvement/change management knowledge or experience.
Your skills will include:
Essential:
- Be registered with the Nursing Council of New Zealand.
- Hold a current Nursing Council of New Zealand practising certificate.
- At least five years working in the perioperative environment
- Holds or is actively working towards a relevant Post-graduate Nursing Diploma. Diploma to be completed within an agreed timeframe. Ideally relevant to perioperative.
- Ability to work autonomously with advanced nursing skills comparable to senior nurse or expert PDRP level.
- Demonstrated skills in nursing leadership and acts as a clinical role model for nurses.
- Displays a high degree of confidence, communication skill, organisational skills, and personal motivation.
- Knowledge and ability to use computers and related technology efficiently.
Desirable:
- Demonstrated ability to develop nursing standards and quality initiatives.
- Demonstrated teaching, mentoring and coaching skills.
- Demonstrated involvement in research that has changed nursing practice.
