Clinical Psychologist

Permanent/Full Time, Fixed Term/Contract/Full Time

The Anxiety Disorders Service, a Specialty Mental Health Service of the Canterbury District Health Board, provides specialist assessment and treatment to people whose everyday life is significantly affected by an anxiety disorder.  We are currently recruiting a Clinical Psychologist to join our team of dedicated health professionals striving to provide the best quality care to consumers and their families/whanau. This position comprises 0.5 fte permanent and 0.4 fte on a fixed term until 31/07/2019.

The Anxiety Disorders Service is a multi-disciplinary team comprised of a Consultant Psychiatrist, Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Nurse Therapists, Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Registrar, Physiotherapist, Dietician and administration staff.

You will be a NZ registered Clinical Psychologist (Clinical Scope of Practice) with experience working with adults who have a range of mental health issues including anxiety and depression with the aim of decreasing their impacts on consumers, their families, caregivers, significant others, and the community.  Central to your success and enjoyment in this role will be your excellent communication skills and an ability to build rapport with clients and health providers.

This would be an ideal opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist who is interested in developing a more in-depth knowledge of the assessment and treatment of anxiety disorders.  In particular, it will provide the opportunity to further develop your Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) skills and their application to both individual and group treatment of complex anxiety disorders. This service currently provides a range of CBT based treatment programmes, including transdiagnostic treatment and meta-cognitive approaches for individual and group treatment.  You would have the opportunity to participate in this process and the delivery of these treatments.
