Clinical Research Associate – Child Health

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Clinical Research Associate (CRA) to join the Children's Haematology and Oncology Centre (CHOC) at Christchurch Hospital.

As part of our dedicated Clinical Research Associate team, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating and managing international and local clinical trials that support children and young people with cancer across the South Island. This varied role spans all aspects of clinical trial coordination, including study start-up, ethics and regulatory submissions, patient enrolment, database management, specimen coordination, financial administration and ongoing trial management.

Working closely with Principal Investigators, clinicians and multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure clinical trials are delivered to the highest regulatory and quality standards while contributing to improved outcomes for tamariki and rangatahi receiving cancer care.

About the Service

The Children's Haematology and Oncology Centre (CHOC) is one of only two specialist childhood cancer treatment centres in New Zealand, providing comprehensive care for infants, children, adolescents and their whānau throughout the South Island and lower North Island.

Participation in international and national clinical trials is a cornerstone of paediatric cancer care. CHOC collaborates with leading research organisations, including the Children's Oncology Group (COG) and the Australian and New Zealand Children's Haematology/Oncology Group (ANZCHOG), ensuring patients have access to world-leading research and treatment opportunities.

About You

You will be an experienced clinical research professional who is passionate about delivering high-quality research and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• A Life Sciences degree (minimum), preferably with postgraduate qualifications or a Master's degree
• At least five years' experience in clinical research or a related field
• Strong knowledge of clinical trial methodology, data management and Good Clinical Practice (ICH-GCP)
• Experience preparing ethics and regulatory submissions and working with local and international research requirements
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and competing priorities
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build effective relationships across multidisciplinary teams
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work both independently and collaboratively
• Advanced Microsoft Office skills and experience using clinical research databases
• Previous experience in paediatric or oncology research will be highly regarded.
