About the Role

As a Clinical Social Work Specialist, you will be supporting the IDPH and FMHS Cluster. This is an opportunity to work across two skilled and motivated services of multidisciplinary professionals. The role includes but is not limited to:

As a Clinical Social Worker within Te Whare Manaaki you will provide:

  • āngata whaiora and their whānau
  • āngata whaiora
  • ānau support and whānau liaison with the tāngata whaiora and TWM
  • āngata whaiora who are Maori and their whānau
  • āngata whaiora and whānau needs

Specialist Mental Health Services are an interdisciplinary team that forms part of Te Whatu Ora - Waitaha (Canterbury). Te Whare Manaaki is a 15-bed medium secure forensic mental health inpatient unit at Hillmorton Hospital, providing specialist assessment, treatment, and recovery-focused care for people whose mental illness has led to offending or who present with complex, high-risk needs. As part of our tight-knit, multidisciplinary team, you’ll contribute to a collaborative and supportive environment, bringing a whānau-focused, systemic approach to care from referral through to community reintegration.

About You

The successful applicant will have skills and experience in:

  • Leadership ability including positively influencing team dynamics and collaborative problem solving
  • Working alongside the Clinical Manager to provide clinical leadership
  • Facilitating high quality social work practice and providing expert clinical knowledge
  • Experience in inpatient social work, SMHS prosses and data entry
  • Building relationships with tāngata whaiora and their whānau
  • Great personal organisation and excellent time management skills to keep up with the demand of this role
  • You will be an NZ Registered Social Worker who is confident in Social Work practise within multidisciplinary settings
  • You will have completed or on a pathway to complete a post graduate qualification relevant to this role
