About the Role
We are seeking a proactive and highly organized Credentialing Coordinator to
support the work of the Credentialing Board as outlined by the Ministry of
Health. This pivotal role involves a wide range of administrative and
coordination responsibilities to ensure the successful delivery of
credentialing processes for Senior Medical and Dental Staff within Health NZ Te
Whatu Ora.
Working closely with the Chair of the Credentialing Board, you will coordinate the end-to-end credentialing process, including planning and facilitating hospital service reviews and visits, supporting stakeholder engagement, and ensuring accurate reporting and compliance in line with requirements from the Medical Council of New Zealand and Health New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate the credentialing process for all Senior Medical and Dental Staff across Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury, including university appointees and medical contractors.
- Organize and manage visits to 7–10 hospital services annually, liaising with hospital departments, consumer representatives, and external College representatives.
- Prepare and manage documentation for full written reports, ensuring alignment with Medical Council of NZ and Ministry of Health standards.
- Support the Chair and Deputy Chair of the Credentialing Board in all activities related to credentialing.
- Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect when engaging with patients, families, and staff.
- Provide general administrative support and undertake additional duties as required.
About You
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Prior experience in a busy administrative or coordination role, ideally within the health sector.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams and Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint); Microsoft Visio experience is a plus.
- Confident working with medical terminology; a current practicing certificate in health is advantageous.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to handle multiple reports and deadlines simultaneously.
- Ability to tailor communication effectively to both clinical and non-clinical stakeholders.
- Self-managing and capable of escalating issues when necessary.
- Commitment to achieving outcomes within strict deadlines.
- An understanding of, or a willingness to develop knowledge of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance in health research.
Desirable:
- Familiarity with service delivery operations in a large healthcare organisation.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of meeting deadlines in high-pressure environments.
- Agile, adaptable, and able to respond quickly to changing circumstances.
