Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini West Coast, is situated on the West Coast of New Zealand’s South Island. Mō te tūnga | About the role

The Crisis Response Team is integral to our regional Mental Health Service, providing urgent, acute mental health care and brief intervention. This fast-paced and dynamic area of specialist mental health creates an excellent opportunity for nurses and allied health staff looking for a challenging and stimulating place to work.  The Crisis Response Team provides a 24-hour, 7-day a week service, assessing the needs, providing treatment, and supporting people experiencing a psychiatric crisis. Pehea | About You

  • As a professional and highly motivated Registered Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist, you will display a positive attitude and enthusiasm for this area of work. 
  • You will enjoy being part of a committed, diverse multidisciplinary team and work in collaboration with a group of professionals that recognises the importance of providing quality care to Tangata Whaiora/service users and their whānau/family.
  • You will work in collaboration with our colleagues in primary care, community agencies and inpatient team, where your ability to think on your feet, triage and prioritize care in a timely manner is essential.
  • Ideally you will be a Duly Authorised Officer (DAO) who has been trained and signed off as being able facilitate the MHA.  If you are not currently a DAO, you will be willing to undertake this paid three-day DAO training as provided by Te Whatu Ora Te Tai o Poutini West Coast.
  • You must Hold a Full Driver’s Licence and have a Mental Health Nursing Scope of Practice.
  • Qualified Occupational Therapists and Social Workers are encouraged to apply.
