About the Role

As a CT Unit Charge, you’ll play a key leadership role supporting the CT Team Leader to deliver an efficient, high‑performing CT imaging service. You will be at the heart of daily operations, ensuring our patients receive safe, timely, high‑quality imaging across Christchurch and Burwood.

You’ll work closely with Radiologists, Registrars, MITs, and the wider Radiology team to make informed clinical decisions, streamline workflows, and ensure examinations are carried out to the highest standard. This role gives you the opportunity to influence how CT services adapt and evolve, particularly as our health system embraces innovation, digital solutions, and new models of care.

You will be hands‑on in supporting staff development, coaching MITs, guiding trainees, coordinating induction, and contributing to performance and competency assessments. As a visible leader on the floor, you’ll model best practice, uphold patient‑centred care, and contribute to a positive, collaborative team culture.

  • Supporting roster planning, leave coordination, and out‑of‑hours service needs
  • Maintaining high standards of patient privacy, safety, and quality care
  • Monitoring waiting times, workload indicators, and other operational metrics
  • Leading quality assurance processes and supporting audit, accreditation, and regulatory activities
  • Liaising with service engineers and coordinating equipment maintenance and repairs
  • Supporting a positive team culture that reflects Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and Te Mauri o Rongo

You communicate clearly, collaborate well with others, and bring a solutions‑focused approach to your work. You’re also committed to equity and culturally safe practice, and you understand the important role Te Tiriti o Waitangi plays in healthcare in Aotearoa.
