About the role
The Director of Allied Health (DAH), Specialist Mental Health Services is responsible for the strategic and professional leadership of the Allied Health workforce across SMHS. The DAH provides operational leadership and management to the Allied Health Directorate Leadership Team, and several Allied Health workforce groups.
The DAH is responsible for fostering excellence in clinical standards and the professional practice of the Allied Health professions to facilitate the ongoing development of best practice, and to ensure a consumer centred service.
As a supportive and collaborative leader, the DAH working in partnership with other clinical and divisional leaders to ensure that Te Whatu Ora Waitaha is excelling in providing quality equitable care to our community.
The DAH will also represent Te Whatu Ora Waitaha at a national and regional level whilst working closely with your peers locally and at other districts.
About You
As the Director of Allied Health, you will be responsible for driving a strategic vision for Allied Health across the Division and support the strategic vision and goals of the Chief Allied Health Scientific & Technical (CAHST) and the Strategic priorities of SMHS.
You will also be involved in the provision of effective professional leadership and clinical oversight of the allied health workforce at SMHS across a multi-disciplinary context.
As an intuitive leader you will be adept at implementing sustainable clinical governance practices that reflect our values and focuses on optimal service delivery. You will bring with you a people-centric and culturally inclusive approach; a sound history of successful team leadership; and an ability to work collaboratively across a multidisciplinary service.
Skills and experience
- Qualification in an Allied Health profession that is recognised by the respective New Zealand Regulatory Authority and professional body.
- A current practising certificate.
- Membership of the relevant professional body
- Relevant Post graduate tertiary qualification.
- Demonstrated broad experience as an Allied Health Clinician of 10-15 years
- Significant experience in a senior Allied Health Leadership position
- Experience making judgements in complex situations where there is incomplete information or solutions are not obvious
- Experience in people leadership and/or management.
- Experience in quality /service improvement activities·
- Experience with policy / procedure review / development
- Knowledge of NZ Health & Disability sector standards and the Privacy Act within a health context.
- Experience in implementing Te Tiriti o Waitangi in action
