About the role

We’re seeking an experienced Electrician to assist in the repair and maintenance of buildings, building services / plant and equipment and building management systems.

You will generally work an 8-hour day between the hours of 6am and 6pm Monday to Friday, but generally 7.30am to 4pm.  After-hours work may be required from time to time as well as there being an on-call component to the role.

This is a permanent, full time role, based predominantly at Christchurch Health Campus, however work at other sites might be required from time to time.  

You will be responsible for:

  • Maintenance and repairs of electrical items or systems associated with Te Whatu Ora Waitaha Canterbury buildings and sites
  • Installation, repair and maintenance of hospital equipment, reticulation systems, electrical safety checks as well as a variety of other commercial and industrial maintenance. 
  • Report any plant or equipment which appears to be faulty or requires maintenance to the Maintenance Manager.

Salary range of $75,499 - $86,623 based on experience

To be considered for this role you will be a strong communicator and be able to work unsupervised and within a team. Your ability to work under pressure and operate in a logical and safe manner will also be paramount in this role.

Skills and experience

This role requires the following:

Essential:

  • Be a Licensed Electrician with The Electrical Workers Registration Board of New Zealand (www.ewrb.govt.nz)
  • Previous experience working in accordance with building statutory requirements
  • Time management skills, especially ability to set and follow appropriate priorities.
  • Ability and willingness to manage several jobs at once.
  • Knowledge and understanding of trades roles and impact upon patient services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the impact of building and fittings upon patient services.
  • Ability to identify maintenance requirements through casual observation.
  • Ability to follow administrative procedures.

Desirable

  • Advanced Trade Certificate

Experience with the following

  • Body or Cardiac Protected Areas
  • Parallel Generation Systems
  • ‘Working on or Near Live Equipment’
  • Heat pumps
  • Medical Sanitiser Machines advantageous, typically Meiko
  • Commercial dishwashers, typically Starline
  • Lighting control, eg. Dali systems
