Emergency Medicine Fellow
CDHB has the perfect opportunity for Emergency Medicine Fellows looking to gain valuable experience on their road to becoming Emergency Medicine Consultants. We are currently recruiting a Fellow to join our team on 12 month fixed term contract from June 2018. Our Fellow roles have been designed to support transition into specialist practise.
There are no night shifts, reduced weekends, 17% rostered non-clinical time, and an especially prepared Fellow Teaching Programme. You will also partake in SMO meetings and have the opportunity to run the floor in a supported environment at times, and at other times work as the “Senior Registrar” on the floor. There is the full entitlement to CME allowances, and there is very good availability of leave.
The Christchurch Hospital Emergency Department is one of the busiest in Australasia - seeing 97,000+ patients per annum, of which 45% are admitted as in-patients or our ED Observation Area. Working in this department with a highly skilled multidisciplinary team will give you the opportunity to gain specialist clinical and leadership experience. Christchurch City offers excellent lifestyle opportunities also.
If successful, you will lead the care of patients who present in the department, and you will play a key role in managing patient flow. You will also contribute to the education and supervision of medical and other staff.
You will also need to be a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) or be nearing completion or hold an equivalent specialist qualification.
