About the Role

We are seeking an Enrolled Nurse with strong communication and organisational skills and a current Annual Practising Certificate from the Nursing Council of New Zealand.

Based in the Medical Progressive Care Unit at Christchurch Hospital, this role involves providing patient-centred nursing care under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse. You will support the delivery of safe, effective care for patients and their whānau, contributing to positive health outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing planned nursing care under the direction of a Registered Nurse
  • Assisting with patient admissions, discharges, and ongoing care
  • Supporting the multidisciplinary team to deliver coordinated care
  • Upholding cultural safety and applying Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles in practice
  • Maintaining a safe environment through risk management and incident reporting
  • Ensuring accurate documentation and maintaining patient confidentiality

About the Team/Service

The Medical Progressive Care Unit is a 14-bed service caring for adult patients within General Medicine, often with complex or multi-system conditions. You’ll be supported by a Nurse Educator and Clinical Nurse Specialist, with a strong focus on both clinical excellence and ongoing professional development.

About You

  • Registered as an Enrolled Nurse with the Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Current Annual Practising Certificate
  • Ability to work effectively under the direction and delegation of a Registered Nurse
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a collaborative team approach
  • Demonstrated commitment to culturally safe practice
  • Organised, adaptable, and able to contribute in a fast-paced acute environment

Confidence working as part of a team, along with a proactive and flexible approach, will see you succeed in this role.
