About the role
We are seeking a compassionate and motivated Health Care Assistant (HCA) to
provide high-quality support services within our wards and departments. Working
under the direction and supervision of Registered Nurses, Enrolled Nurses or
Midwives, the HCA plays an essential role in supporting patient care and ward
operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist nursing staff with patient care, including toileting, showering, and feeding.
- Support ward environment function.
- Engage with patients.
- Ensure patients' dignity, comfort, and privacy are always upheld.
- Carry out daily housekeeping tasks including linen and rubbish management.
- Replenish stock, maintain clean and safe ward environments, and ensure medical equipment is in good working order.
- Assist with patient watches as needed.
About You:
You are a team player who brings a caring and respectful approach to your work. You can work flexibly across shifts, adapt to changing environments, and communicate clearly with staff, patients and whānau.
Qualifications and Experience:
- NZQA Level 3 Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (or equivalent) – preferred but not essential.
- Competent computer skills with knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is advantageous.
- Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
