About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Healthcare Assistant to join our team in Medical Assessment (MA).

Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients and supporting the clinical team. As a Healthcare Assistant, your duties in MA will include assisting nursing staff with patient cares, providing enhanced therapeutic observation and stocking supplies whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment within the ward.

About the Service

Medical Assessment is a 40 bed, fast-paced, high patient turn over environment within the General Medicine service. Patients presenting with acute medical conditions are admitted from the Emergency Department as well as direct from General Practice. Patients are assessed, treatment commenced and are then either discharged or transferred to an inpatient ward.

About You

We are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to use their initiative. You will work alongside a diverse multi-disciplinary team and follow a roster that covers all shifts Monday to Sunday.

  • Ability to work all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High attention to detail and ability to relate to patients and their families
  • Good use of initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent time management skills and willingness to learn
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and prioritising tasks as clinical needs change
  • Comfortable working with patients with Dementia, Delirium and other cognitive deficits
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Previous healthcare experience is desirable but not essential
