About the Role
Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients in all clinical areas across Ashburton Hospital. You will work in a variety of wards at Ashburton Hospital, including the Acute Admitting Unit, Ward 1 and Ward 2.
Ashburton Hospital provides a range of Inpatient health services; both acute, and assessment treatment and rehabilitation.
As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist nursing staff with patient cares which at times can be one on one whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment. You will enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a high level of confidentiality and the ability to work well under pressure.
The role of a healthcare assistant varies from day to day but you will be there to make sure that the ward is running smoothly and to its highest potential. This could mean performing a variety of tasks such as:
- Basic patient care, hygiene and personal care
- Cleaning and tidying the ward
- Assisting the nursing team with a variety of tasks on the ward
- Ensuring that patients have the best experience possible

- Ability to communicate and build relationships with people from all walks of life
