Healthcare Assistant - Child Health Outpatients

  • 0.4FTE Permanent position (16 hours per week)
  • Wednesday and Friday, 8am - 4.30pm

About the Role

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Child Health Outpatients team as a Healthcare Assistant.

Healthcare Assistants plays a key role in the effective functioning of the ward. We have a high turnover of patients and work within a fast-paced environment.

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to assist Nursing staff whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

You will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring a smooth running of the clinic
  • Ordering stock and supplies for the ward and the community
  • General ward cleaning
  • Greeting patients and undertaking pre patient assessments

About the Service

Child Health Outpatients operates Monday to Friday 8am - 430pm.  We are a small cohesive team who look after Tamariki aged 0-16 years of age.  Any procedure that doesn’t require an inpatient admission is done in Child Health Outpatients.

About you

We are looking for a someone who has excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, team player and the ability to use their initiative. You will enjoy being busy and don't mind that the role can be at times be physically demanding.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn
  • A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families
  • A good use of initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience with Tamariki desirable but not essential
  • Experience as a Hospital Aide or similar is desirable but not essential
