About the Role

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join our dedicated multidisciplinary team to continue to ensure the quality care for the tamariki (children) within our service. 

Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients and supporting the clinical team. As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist nursing staff with patient observation, stocking and maintaining a safe and clean work environment on the ward.

About the Service

The Children’s Haematology Oncology Centre (CHOC) is one of two tertiary paediatric oncology centres in New Zealand. We provide inpatient and outpatient care for up to 50 new diagnoses per year. Our regional services provide shared care support for Tamariki (children) and their whanau (families) in the South Island and lower North Island and we participate in high quality clinical research programmes with most tamariki in our service enrolled on clinical trials.

About You

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Recent Healthcare Assistant experience in Paediatrics
  • Ability to work Friday and Saturday morning shift
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn.
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to work
