Healthcare Assistant - Emergency Department
- 1.0FTE (40 hours per week) permanent position
- 24/7 rotating roster. Morning, Afternoon and Nights - Monday to Sunday

About the Role and Service
We are based in the Waipapa building on Christchurch Hospital Campus in a purpose-built Emergency Department. Our department is divided into functional areas and sees an average of 140,000 presentations per year.
We are seeking an enthusiastic healthcare assistant who enjoys a fast-paced environment and works well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
In this role, you will provide support and care to patients and whanau arriving and being treated in all areas of the Emergency Department.
You will be responsible for carrying out daily tasks within your shift and working in collaboration with colleagues and will be supported by the nursing team with ongoing educational opportunities specific to your role.
About You
As a Healthcare Assistant you will enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to work well under pressure.
- 2+ years Healthcare Assistant experience essential
- Experience in an acute hospital environment desirable
- Ability to work morning, afternoon and night shifts across Monday - Sunday
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Flexible and Adaptable
- Computer literacy
- Physically fit and be able to be on your feet for an entire shift
