About the Role

We are seeking applications from motivated and compassionate Healthcare Assistants who would like to be considered for a fixed-term 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) opportunity within Ward 15 at Christchurch Hospital. This role is fixed term due to secondment available now until 13/12/2026.

Duties may include assisting patients with personal cares, feeding, mobility, bed-making and supporting patients throughout their hospital stay. You may also be asked to care for confused patients in a state of delirium, called Enhanced Therapeutic Observation.

About the Service

Ward 15 currently consists of 30 beds, with ability to go to 38 depending on the acuity of the campus across two wings, East and West.

About You

To be successful, you will have:

Ability to work across all shifts – Monday to Sunday, morning afternoon and nights

  • Previous healthcare experience desirable, but not essential
  • The ability to build positive relationships with patients, whānau, and colleagues
  • A willingness to learn and an understanding of the diverse needs of patients
  • A positive attitude and good sense of humour
  • A genuine passion for supporting patients to achieve the best possible health outcomes
