Healthcare Assistant - Haematology Day Stay
- Ward B6, Waipapa Hospital, Christchurch Health Campus
- 0.8FTE (32 hours per week) Permanent position
- Shifts - Monday to Friday between 7:30am – 6pm

About the Role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Healthcare Assistant to join our team in the Haematology Day Stay.
A Healthcare Assistant is an integral part of our team of health professionals. You will enjoy being busy and don’t mind that the role can be at times physically demanding. You will be hard-working and enjoy working in a well-established team. This fast-paced challenging environment will offer you variety in your day.
You will be responsible for:
- Patient care including personal care
- Patient watch
- Cleaning and tidying the ward/house keeping
- Stocking the ward with supplies
- Assisting the nursing team with a variety of tasks on the ward.
- Ensuring that patients have the best experience possible.
About the Service
The Haematology Day Unit specialises in the care and support of medical patients from a variety of specialties, with approximately 50% being Haematology. While the unit is primarily now an infusion centre we also provide pre and post care for some of our patients who are having procedures.
About You
We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant with previous Health experience.
- Ability to work all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights
- Punctual and reliable with excellent time management
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
- Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Initiative and a proactive approach to work
