Healthcare Assistant - Medical Progressive Care

• Based at Christchurch Hospital
• 0.6FTE fixed-term position until 13/12/2026 covering secondment
• Shifts - Morning, Afternoon and Night, Monday to Sunday

About the Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Healthcare Assistant to join our Medical Progressive Care team. This role is fixed-term covering secondment until 13/12/2026 at 0.6FTE (24 hours per week) however the ability to pick up extra shifts for cover will be highly advantageous to your application.
Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients and supporting the clinical team. This role varies from day to day depending on the requirements of the ward.

You will be responsible for:

• Supporting the nursing staff
• Personal care; assisting patients with showering, feeding, mobility support etc
• Cleaning and tidying the ward
• Stocking the ward
• Providing close observation support
• Making sure that everything is running smoothly to its highest potential

About the Service

Medical Progressive Care unit is a 14-bed General Medical ward that specialises in the management of people unwell with acute medical conditions.

About You

• Ability to work all shifts - Morning, Afternoon and Night
• Ability to pick up extra shifts for cover will be highly advantageous 
• Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn
• A good use of initiative, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Previous healthcare experience desirable, but not essential
