Healthcare Assistant – Nursing Support Team


  • Based across Christchurch Hospital Campus
  • 0.6FTE and 0.9FTE (24 – 36 hours per week) permanent positions
  • Shifts rostered across Monday to Sunday; Morning, Afternoon and Nights

About the Role

Christchurch Hospital Pool has an opportunity for Healthcare Assistants to join their team on a permanent basis.

Healthcare Assistants are instrumental in providing care to patients and supporting the clinical team. As a Healthcare Assistant you will assist nursing staff with patient cares and patient observation, whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment on the ward.

We can offer permanent FTE from 0.6 – 0.9 (24 hours – 36 hours per week). Please indicate in your personalised cover letter what FTE you are seeking, noting you will need to be available to work across all days and shift times.

About You

You will have the following skills and experience:

  • Recent Healthcare experience in a Hospital setting, Acute or Community
  • Ability to work a rotating roster across all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights
  • Able to work across all clinical areas of Christchurch Hospital 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families
  • Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to work
  • Flexible and Adaptable
