Healthcare Assistant – Respiratory
- Ward 19, Christchurch Hospital
- 0.7 FTE - 0.8FTE (28 - 32 hours per week) permanent position
- Rotating roster across Monday to Sunday; Morning, Afternoons and Nights.

About the Role
Healthcare Assistants are an integral part of our team and we are looking for candidates who have excellent communication skills, a positive attitude and the ability to use their initiative.
You will be part of a busy diverse multi-disciplinary team and don't mind that the role can be at times be physically demanding. There is lots of variety in our ward and great opportunities to develop your skills with a comprehensive orientation and support by other members of the team.
You will be responsible for; personal care including assisting patients with showering and feeding, making beds, general ward duties, patient watch and ward stocking.
About the Service
Ward 19 is a 22-bed unit providing inpatient care for people with a range of respiratory conditions.
About You
- Excellent customer service skills and the ability to work in an inclusive team environment
- Must be able to work all shifts – Morning, Afternoon and Nights across Monday to Sunday
- Excellent time management skills and a willingness to learn
- A high attention to detail and the ability to relate to patients and their families
- A good use of initiative and problem-solving skills
- Passion to assist our patients to achieve the best health outcomes
- Previous healthcare experience desirable, but not essential
