Healthcare Assistant – Waikari Hospital

About the Role
We are seeking a Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Waikari Hospital on a casual contract. Our service operates across Monday to Sunday and shifts will be offered to you when we require cover for on call, annual leave and sick leave.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the Registered Nurse
- Assisting in the kitchen to prepare meals
- Assisting the patients with personal cares, activities
- Helping to maintain a high standard of cleaning in the hospital.
About the Service
Waikari Hospital is located in Waikari Village, approximately one hour drive north of Christchurch on State Highway 1 and inland from Waipara.
The hospital is set in beautiful grounds overlooking the Alps. Waikari Hospital meets the needs of the local community as well as covering a large rural district including continuing care of the elderly, general medical, surgical rehabilitation, carer support, respite care and palliative care.
We have 10 beds and are a team of Registered Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Activities Coordinators and Maintenance/Gardeners.
About You
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
- Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
- Has empathetic and caring nature
- Good time management skills
- Ideally experience as a Hospital Aide or similar
- Previous food preparation experience is desirable.
- Based within commuting distance to Waikari Hospital
