About the Role and Service

We are seeking Healthcare Assistants to support a 6-month Winter Flex initiative, working in the Flex Care Waipapa Ward and Discharge Lounge.

This will be in the former Medical Assessment area which will be temporarily repurposed as an inpatient ward and discharge lounge to increase bed capacity. This role will play a key part in supporting patient flow, enabling timely movement from the Emergency Department to inpatient beds, and ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality care.

Working in Flex Care Waipapa, you will provide support and care to patients and their whānau, assisting the nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality care.

You will be responsible for carrying out a range of clinical support tasks during your shift, contributing to maintaining a safe and well-functioning ward environment, and working collaboratively with colleagues across the multidisciplinary team.

About You

As a Healthcare Assistant, you will enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team and be comfortable in a dynamic, high-demand environment.

  • Experience in a healthcare setting or Healthcare Assistant role (preferred but not essential)
  • Ability to work morning, afternoon, and night shifts across Monday to Sunday
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Computer literacy
  • Physically fit and able to be on your feet for extended periods
