Hospital Aide - Maternity Ward

  • Shifts – Monday to Sunday, Morning, Afternoon and Nights

About the Role

A Hospital Aide position plays a key role in the effective functioning of the ward. We have a high turnover of patients and work within a fast-paced environment. We are looking for a Hospital Aide to assist Midwifery and Nursing staff with patient care whilst maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

You will be responsible for: 

  • Assisting nursing staff with patient cares
  • Keeping the ward tidy and organised
  • Answering bell calls
  • Assisting with personal care
  • Ordering and restocking of supplies
  • Liaising with central supply

The service operates Monday to Sunday across 3 shifts:

Morning - 6:30am to 3:00pm, Afternoon - 2:30pm – 11:00pm and Nights - 10:30pm – 7:00am.

Please note the successful candidate must be able to work all shifts across Monday to Sunday.

About the Service

The Maternity services at Christchurch Women's Hospital are specialised to provide care for women who have medical problems or are experiencing complications in their pregnancy. It is staffed 24 hours a day. Our Maternity ward has 45 beds and a very high turnover of patients. Our ward is fast paced and can be at times physically demanding.

About You

You will enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary team, have excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to work well under pressure.

  • Ability to work all shifts - Morning, Afternoons and Nights
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage well
  • Effective problem solving and decision-making skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in a multidisciplinary team
  • Initiative and a proactive approach to work
  • Honesty and Integrity
  • Previous experience in healthcare is desirable
