Hydraulics Manager

About the Role

This role plays a vital part in leading the small team of plumbers, drainlayers and contractors and will be responsible for maintaining the Canterbury District Health Board’s hydraulics systems. You will work closely with the Maintenance and Engineering team to ensure quality delivery of service.

We are looking for an innovative, forward thinking leader, who is able to provide energy saving solutions while still willing to get on their hands dirty.

You will be responsible for:

  • Lead, manage and coach a small team
  • Liaise and communicate with internal and external stakeholders
  • Maintain a list of preferred materials
  • Ensure quality control
  • Ensure whole of life costs are considered and that value for money is achieved
  • Be on the “on-call roster”
  • Manage budgets
  • Manage capital projects

The Team: What we do

The Health NZ Waitaha Canterbury Maintenance and Engineering Department looks after the maintenance of all buildings, grounds, services and non-clinical equipment in Christchurch and the surrounding area.

About you

Your skills will include:

  • Being a licenced Certifying plumber
  • Being a licenced Certifying Gas Fitter preferrable
  • Being a licenced Certifying drainlayer would be preferable
  • Medical Gas experience, Authorised Person HTM preferred 02-01
  • Building Management systems experience (beneficial)
  • Knowledge of reticulated services
  • The ability to work autonomously
  • Intermediate skills in the Microsoft suite e.g. Word, Outlook, Excel
