About the Role
As an Interventional Cardiology Fellow, you’ll be part of a high-volume service delivering over 1000 PCIs annually, including 24/7 STEMI coverage and a thriving structural heart disease programme. You’ll gain hands-on experience in PCI including complex PCI including LM stenting, bifurcations, atherectomy and CTO. You will also be exposed to advanced intracoronary imaging (OCT/IVUS) techniques and physiology (FFR/CFR/IMR/iFR).
This is a rare opportunity to work alongside experienced Consultants in an accredited advanced training department, further developing your expertise in a collaborative and innovative environment. You will also participate in the after-hours roster covering cardiology admissions and inpatients.
About the Team/Service/Location
Our Interventional Cardiology team is based at Christchurch Hospital, the major tertiary referral centre for the South Island. With six Interventional Cardiologists and a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, we provide high-quality cardiac services to a population of nearly 600,000. The team is known for its supportive culture, academic involvement, and commitment to clinical excellence.

About You
As a successful candidate for this role, you will:
- Have completed advanced training in Cardiology (FRACP, MRCP (UK) or equivalent).
- Have at least two years of Specialist Training in Cardiology.
- Be competent in diagnostic coronary angiography (PCI experience is an advantage but not essential).
- Be eligible for registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand (see www.mcnz.org.nz/registration).
- Be available to commence the role in August 2026.
