About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Laboratory Assistant to join our Specimen Services team. This role is crucial in supporting the smooth operation of our laboratory and ensuring the highest standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Register patients, add tests, and provide access to results.
  • Unpack and store laboratory consumables.
  • Sort and input sample data accurately into the computer system.
  • Interpret and process laboratory request forms.
  • Check data for completeness and accuracy.
  • Respond to telephone inquiries via our Lab line call centre.

About you 

Essential:

  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand.
  • Ability to maintain high professional standards aligned with the competence standards.
  • Understanding of or willingness to learn the significance and obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi.
  • Commitment to physical and mental well-being, with the stamina to meet role demands.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • A strong drive for excellence and personal accountability.
  • Self-awareness and the ability to positively influence others.
  • High standards of personal, professional, and institutional integrity.
