Medical Imaging Technologist - Cardiology


  • Permanent part time 0.4FTE position available (16 hours per week), with the opportunity to possibly increase to 0.6 or 0.8FTE in future. Please indicate your preference in your cover letter.

  • Hours of work are 8 hour shifts during weekdays rostered between the hours of 0800-1800

About the Role

The Cardiac Cath Lab at Christchurch Hospital is looking for an experienced Medical Imaging Technologist to join the team on a part-time permanent basis. We are looking for a flexible thinking MIT to work in this exciting, high pressure environment within an experienced team.

In this role, you will:

  • Provide high-quality imaging services, ensuring compliance with departmental standards and protocols
  • Understand and apply techniques like Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), and Intracardiac Echocardiography (ICE) for heart and vessel imaging
  • Confirm patient identity, explain procedures, and ensure informed consent, Maintain patient privacy and cultural sensitivity
  • Complete administrative tasks with a high level of detail in a timely manner
  • Participate in professional development, training, and research projects
  • Actively contribute to continuous improvement in service quality

About You

You will bring a proven track record in general X-ray, along with a strong commitment to developing your skills and expertise within the Cath Lab environment. Current New Zealand registration as a Medical Imaging Technologist is required.

This position suits an experienced, fast learner who communicates clearly, works collaboratively, and thrives within an inter‑disciplinary clinical team. You take pride in maintaining high clinical standards, embrace ongoing learning, and contribute positively to a supportive and efficient Cath Lab service.

To be successful in this position you will also demonstrate the following:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and ability to interact with a diverse range of people
  • Ability to work under pressure 
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a MDT, with a team player attitude
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth 
  • Minimum 2 years General X-ray experience
  • Cath Lab experience preferred but not essential
