Medical Laboratory Technician
- Christchurch – Canterbury Health Laboratories - Specialist Chemistry
- Permanent part time working 16 hours per week (4 hours per day, 4 days a week)

Canterbury Health Laboratories is the largest medical laboratory in the South Island which is also a major secondary/tertiary referral centre. We have a modern and well-equipped lab including a good range of specialist equipment. Our laboratory is open 24 hours a day, providing timely results to our clinicians to ensure our patients are getting the right treatment, at the right time.
About the service
The Specialist Chemistry section of CHL has a long-established expertise in development, analysis, and clinical interpretation of routine and specialised assays. Conducting testing in a wide range of techniques including LC-MS/MS, HPLC, ELISA and electrophoresis.
The successful applicant will be a highly motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail. In addition, you will possess effective time management skills and be able to work independently as well as lead a small team.

You are a skilled and conscientious Medical Laboratory Technician with a strong commitment to accuracy, collaboration, and patient-focused care. You thrive in a team setting and take pride in delivering precise, timely laboratory results that support clinical excellence.
Essential Requirements
- Registration with the Medical Sciences Council of New Zealand as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) with a current practicing certificate
- Demonstrated ability to maintain high professional standards and meet competence requirements for MLT practitioners.
- Familiarity with laboratory processes and quality management
- Methodical and practical skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy skills.
- Interpersonal and organisational skills
