Medical Technician

  • Salary band is $31.65 per hour - $37.99 per hour, based on experience as per the PSA AHS&T collective agreement

About the Role

Te Nikau Hospital are seeking an enthusiastic person to join the Medical Technician team for a fixed term contract to cover Parental Leave (until January 2027). You will be a valuable member of a small and supportive team that provides a broad range of Medical technical support.

You will be available a minimum of 20 hours work per week, rostered of 4-6 weeks in advance with the opportunity to flex up to full time when workload demands. Weekend work will be required on occasions (no more than 2 weekends per month) to support visiting healthcare specialist clinics such as ENT. During weekdays your duties will vary in support of the Medical Technicians and the wider Te Nikau Hospital and Health Centre Team. For a suitable applicant greater hours may be offered after interview.

Key duties will include:

  • Cardiac Diagnostics: ECG, Holter monitoring, Interim Pacemaker checks
  • Sleep Diagnostics: Education & demonstration of  level 3 sleep study equipment to patients
  • Equipment maintenance: Cleaning and preparation of diagnostic medical devices

About You 

This role would suit a quick learner with a previous nursing or allied health background who likes variety. Training and support will be provided, however due to the fixed term nature of the role some prior knowledge of physiological testing/diagnostics would be preferred and prior experience in healthcare is essential.

Desirable Experience/Skills:

  • Pulmonary Function Testing: Spirometry (with certification)
  • Orthopaedic Casting/Immobilisation: Application and Removal of Plaster and Fibreglass casts
