Christchurch Women’s Hospital, a modern acute and major teaching.
We are looking for an experienced midwife to co-ordinate the CDHB Fetal Maternal Medicine Service which is a tertiary unit for the women of Canterbury and the wider South Island. This area has a woman centred model of care that provides timely consultation when fetal anomaly is diagnosed and/or a diagnostic fetal procedure is required.
As the Lead Midwife of this multidisciplinary team you will provide effective clinical leadership, mentoring and guidance within our small busy specialist team.
You will be highly organised and motivated by the challenging nature of this role which involves; triaging and co-ordination of care, assisting with diagnostic procedures, providing counselling to ensure optimal outcomes for the woman and her whanau.
Skills and expertise required:
· Proven expert clinical midwifery and assessment skills
· Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and build upon working relationships effectively in order to successfully achieve outcomes
· Ability to work autonomously and as an effective member of the multidisciplinary team
· Demonstrated ability to contribute to quality improvement processes and principles
· Demonstrated ability within education and clinical teaching
Thinking on your feet, liaising with the wider multidisciplinary team and the ability to problem solve is imperative to your success in this position. You will also be expected to collate and improve patient information, record statistics and audit outcomes.
It is expected you will have proven leadership skills and hold a relevant post graduate qualification but we would be prepared to consider a Midwife who is committed to or working toward a post graduate qualification.
