About the role
Are you seeking a rewarding and critical role in healthcare? Join our dedicated team at Christchurch Hospital Mortuary as a Medical Laboratory Technician (Mortuary). We are looking for a passionate individual who can uphold the highest standards of care and service for the deceased and their families.
Responsibilities:
As a member of the Christchurch Hospital Mortuary team, you will have shared accountability for:
- Assisting with postmortems and providing documentation for Coronial Services.
- Assisting with hospital postmortems.
- Checking all required documentation for deaths in Christchurch Hospital.
- Liaising with and providing required documentation for funeral directors.
- Receipt, release, property management, and viewing of deceased.
- Complying with IANZ accreditation to the ISO 15189 standard.
- Providing an on-call service outside normal working hours.
- Collecting, labeling, packaging, storing, and sending specimens.
- Tissue return.
- Engaging with the family of the deceased when required.
About you
Skills and experience
- QMLT – Mortuary, Embalmer, or other relevant experience.
- Ability to perform all competencies relevant to a level 3 mortuary.
