MRI Unit Charge

About the Role
This is a newly created MRI Unit Charge Technologist role, established to strengthen clinical leadership, safety, and service delivery within the Radiology Service. The position offers an experienced MRI technologist the opportunity to step into a key leadership role, supporting the MRI Team Leader and contributing to the ongoing development of a high‑quality, patient‑centred imaging service.
The role combines hands‑on clinical practice with leadership accountability, MRI safety oversight, staff support, and service improvement.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Provide clinical leadership while undertaking MRI imaging in line with protocols and best practice
- Support daily MRI operations, including workflow coordination and effective use of staff and equipment
- Maintain and champion MRI safety standards, including screening, zone control, and implanted device protocols
- Support staff capability, supervision, training, and ongoing professional development
- Work closely with Radiologists, Registrars, and clinical teams to prioritise and deliver timely imaging
- Contribute to quality assurance, accreditation requirements, and continuous service improvement
About You
You are an experienced MRI technologist who brings strong clinical expertise together with a collaborative and pragmatic leadership style. You are motivated to support high‑quality patient care, lead teams positively, and contribute to a safe, efficient, and continuously improving MRI service.
You will bring:
- New Zealand MRTB registration with a current APC (general scope, no conditions)
- A minimum of five years’ post‑registration experience in MRI
- Proven commitment to MRI safety, clinical quality, and patient‑centred care
- Demonstrated ability to support, guide, and develop staff within a clinical environment
- A strong understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi, equity, and culturally safe practice, and the ability to apply this meaningfully in your role
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, clinicians, and multidisciplinary teams
- Take ownership of your work, show initiative, and follow through on responsibilities and service priorities
