About the Role

As a Nephrologist based at Christchurch Hospital, you will work as part of a regional service supporting patients across Canterbury, South Canterbury and the West Coast. Your responsibilities will include outpatient clinics, inpatient consultations, and acute dialysis management. The unit also supports home haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis training and is the transplant centre for the lower South Island.

This full-time, 3-month fixed-term role is ideal for a recently qualified SMO looking to contribute to a progressive team committed to patient-centred nephrology care. You’ll be exposed to a wide range of cases in a supportive teaching and multidisciplinary environment.

About you

As a Nephrologist, you will bring:

  • Vocational registration (or eligibility for registration) with the Medical Council of New Zealand
  • Experience or strong interest in general nephrology and dialysis care
  • A patient-focused approach with strong teamwork and communication skills
  • Commitment to equitable health outcomes and cultural safety
  • Flexibility and enthusiasm to work in a dynamic hospital environment
