New Graduate Anaesthetic Technician
- Permanent, full time Anaesthetic Technician positions available
- 40 hours per week, shifts are 10 hours
- Primarily based at Christchurch Health Campus

About the Role
As one of Aotearoa, New Zealand’s largest tertiary healthcare providers and our regional trauma centre, Waitaha, Canterbury offers Anaesthetic Technicians a wide range of rewarding opportunities to grow and develop your career.
As an integral part of the perioperative multidisciplinary team, our Anaesthetic Technicians are involved in the delivery of complex surgical care across our sites operating departments delivering acute and elective surgical services. From obstetrics to trauma to ECT to paediatrics, and everything in between; we are an acute and elective centre that offers it all. Christchurch Campus is situated in the city next to our beautiful Hagley Park; in spring you can walk under the blossoms. If your shift is at Burwood Hospital, you’ll be able to head down to New Brighton Beach for an after-work swim or cruise around Bottle Lake Forrest.
We also offer you the support to be able to safely navigate all elements of growing and developing your practice within Perioperative Practice.
About the Team
We are a varied team, made up of Registered Anaesthetic Technicians, Operating Department Practitioner’s (ODP's), Registered Nurse Assistant to the Anaesthetist (RNAA’s) and locum/agency staff, from a huge range of backgrounds. We are pretty proud of our evolution as a team and therefore big on our shared values (being professionalism, caring, collaboration and resilience) it is important to us that we continue to build our team with people who think these are just as important as we do.
You will be supported by our education team and clinical coaches who will provide you with on and off the floor supervision to ensure you meet Medical Sciences Councils (MSC) new entry to practice requirements.
You will have access to funding for continuing professional development as well as a wide range of internally available training and development opportunities.
About you
To be successful in this role you will:
- Be a graduate from AUT with the BHSc Perioperative Practise
- Eligible to hold a current Registration and Annual Practising Certificate with MSC
- Committed to upholding Health New Zealand’s obligations under Te Tiriti o Waitangi
- Demonstrate a commitment to delivering equitable, high quality, evidence-based, perioperative practice
- Motivated to embrace challenges and change
- Take a proactive approach to your own learning and development
- A sense of humour and
self awareness is also a must
