About the Role

As an Advanced Trainee in Nuclear Medicine, you’ll participate in a comprehensive two-year programme accredited by the RACP and RANZCR Committee for Joint Training in Nuclear Medicine.

  • Year 1: Based at Christchurch Hospital, working within a highly skilled team of Nuclear Medicine physicians, dual-trained Radiologists, Technologists, Medical Physicists, and administrative staff.
  • Year 2: Training will continue across Auckland City Hospital and Mercy Radiology’s Epsom, Greenlane, and Milford sites, offering diverse learning experiences and exposure to cutting-edge technologies.

This programme provides an exceptional platform for developing advanced specialist skills and launching your career in this rapidly evolving field.

About the Team

The Nuclear Medicine Service at Christchurch Hospital is a collaborative, multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic care for the Canterbury community. Working closely with our national partners, we are proud to contribute to the advancement of Nuclear Medicine in Aotearoa.

About You

We are seeking motivated applicants who have completed one of the following:

  • Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Basic Physician Training (including written and clinical exams), OR
  • Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Radiologists (RANZCR) Part 2 Examination

RACP applicants must complete the two years of nuclear medicine training and a third year of non-core training, in an allied internal medicine field. Already completed years can be accredited, with college approval to obtain FRACP.
