Nurse Educator - Oncology Inpatient Service

About the Role

We are looking for a Nurse Educator to work alongside our team who are committed to supporting patients and their whānau.

As the Nurse Educator you will work collaboratively with the staff across our Oncology Inpatient and Haematology Services supporting a clinical environment for nurses, that supports evidence-based practice, and promotes a culture of learning and skills attainment, all with the endeavour to provide the highest standard of nursing care.

About the Service

Not only is Christchurch Hospital’s Oncology Service the largest provider of oncology services in the South Island, we are leaders in clinical practice and research at the forefront of clinical developments and quality models of care. We work in multidisciplinary teams to ensure our patients have access to the most appropriate care for them.

About You

As a positive role model with your expert nursing knowledge and extensive clinical experience in oncology, you will be a specialist resource within our team. Your clinical expertise and passion for oncology will enable you to provide valuable support and education to staff whilst you facilitate innovative, and creative education.

Self-motivation, with exceptional organisational and interpersonal skills and the ability to engage a wide range of people, is paramount in this role.

Ideally you will have experience in clinical teaching and hold or be working towards a certificate in adult teaching and / or a post graduate qualification.

Skills and Experience:

  • Senior Registered Nurse with a current APC from Nursing Council of New Zealand
  • Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and collaboratively with other professionals
  • You will be an advanced nursing practitioner with excellent time management, interpersonal /organisational skills and ability to be adaptable, flexible and solution focused
  • Ability to share and demonstrate specialist knowledge with skills experience in teaching, mentoring and coaching
  • You will hold, or currently be working towards, Level 8 post graduate qualification
