About the role
A Nurse Educator opportunity has arisen with our Workforce Development team.
The Nurse Educator is an acknowledged nursing leader for Te Tai o Poutini and functions at an advanced clinical practise level to promote nursing excellence within our health services.
Reporting to the Nurse Director Workforce Development and working closely with Nurse Managers and the Quality Patient Safety team, the role covers the entire region.
You’ll work with other Nurse Educators, a Clinical Coach and the wider Workforce Development team to: Provide nursing leadership in clinical practice, enable evidence-based nursing care by facilitating the acquisition and maintenance of appropriate knowledge and skills, act as a resource for nursing staff, provide and facilitate educational opportunities for staff, you’ll lead nursing education and promote nursing research and evidence-based nursing practice across Te Tai o Poutini.
The promotion of nursing within our Pipeline work will see you interacting with those looking to begin the nursing career as well as supporting undergraduates through their journey.
Your work will see you preparing, supporting, and enabling the nurse workforce by developing, delivering, and evaluating prioritised education and training programmes that align with standards determined by relevant regulatory bodies. You will act as a role model, mentor and specialist resource person. You will be supporting teams with implementing and embedding the Fundamentals of Care Programme into practice.
You will work collaboratively with Nurse Managers as part of our Centralised Recruitment process and facilitate orientation programmes for new staff.
About You
If you are a Registered Nurse with extensive, recent clinical and educational experience, hold or are working towards a certificate in adult teaching and / or a post graduate qualification, we would love to hear from you. You will be experienced working as a mentor, preceptor or have held a senior nursing role.
Stakeholder engagement is key, so you will require strong interpersonal skills and a positive approach to working within the Workforce Development team.
This is a role where you will be working across a wide number of areas promoting excellence and enhancing nursing practice to develop knowledge and skills for nursing staff.
