About the Role

We are seeking applicants to a new position within Health New Zealand Canterbury, Gynaecology Services.

These are two distinct positions.

Gynaecology Outpatient Dept is a dynamic workplace which will require you to work with other senior nurses to ensure women have access to the treatment they require in a timely manner.  This position has a broad scope of practice and will involve meeting MOH targets for women’s health.  Training will be supported as required but prior specialty interest in gynaecology is essential.

Gynaecology Inpatient ward and assessment Unit provides a broad scope of practice and will require holistic assessment, diagnostic and treatment planning skills in a fast-paced environment.  This is the acute assessment of women with undifferentiated diagnoses which requires a high level of decision making.

In both of these positions, you will work within a team of gynaecology Consultants, Resident Medical Officer’s, Senior Nurses and Registered Nurses. You will be supported by Nurse Practitioner Groups and receive direct clinical supervision as required.

You will be responsible for:

  • Utilising evidence-based practice to support effective decision making in the holistic: assessment, planning, treatment, and evaluation of clinical care
  • Utilising knowledge of pathophysiology and pharmacology, as well as advanced assessment skills, to determine comprehensive diagnoses and plans of care in partnership with patients, whānau, and the wider care team.
  • Collaborate with teams from the Adult Emergency dept, Medical and Surgical Services.

Shifts to be discussed at interview stage.
