NZREX PGY1 Primary Care (GP) Training Programme | Commencing 13 April 2026 - Canterbury District
About the Role
If you are an NZREX doctor wishing to gain general registration though a primary care pathway in the Canterbury district, we are now accepting applications for this new programme.
This is a 2-year programme in which you will spend time in both Hospital & Primary Care settings, with the majority of time being spent in Primary Care. These positions are fixed term for 2-years, commencing on Monday, 13th April 2026. Alongside your clinical work, you will also be participating in a comprehensive education programme and be supported by a dedicated team who will help you work towards General Registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand.
About you
- Have passed the NZREX or PLABS exam in the last 5-years.
- Have New Zealand Residency or Citizenship and be currently residing in New Zealand.
- Knowledge and commitment of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and how the principles can be applied to health.
- A willingness to grow and further develop an equity lens and skillset, both to assist Māori and minority groups.
- You must be eligible for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. You can check your eligibility by visiting the Council’s website at www.mcnz.org.nz
