Occupational Therapist - North East Community Service Team
- Full time fixed term position, to support the winter season through to 30 September 2026

About the Role
Based at Princess Margaret Hospital, our North/East Community Services Team is a large interdisciplinary team working with clients in the community with a goal of maintaining patient independence. We offer assessment, treatment and rehabilitation of older persons.
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Undertaking occupational therapy assessments and developing and implementing intervention and treatment plans in conjunction with the client and whānau
- Assess, inform, coach and rehabilitate clients in their health journey
- Managing and prioritising a busy caseload
- Carrying out assessments and treatments plans in a holistic manner with a view to possible referral to other disciplines and support agencies
- Take pride in supporting clients to navigate the health system and enable great outcomes
- You will be able to work autonomously in the community while being backed by a comprehensive interdisciplinary team
- Ensuring timely assessment of patient needs on discharge to ensure optimum support is provided as they return to their homes
About You
Your skills will include:
- Flexibility and adaptability to work as a member of an inter-disciplinary team
- Enthusiasm for knowledge sharing across and beyond your discipline
- The ability to establish an early rapport with patients and families, and interact with a wide range of people from varying backgrounds
- As this is a community position and travel is required, a full NZ Driver’s license is essential
- Registration with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board and an Annual Practicing Certificate is essential
- Demonstrated specialty area experience and professional development is preferable
