About the role
Based at Hillmorton Campus, Whāngai Aroha, comprising of Perinatal Mental Health Service and Eating Disorders Service, provides care for a South Island wide catchment.
The Occupational Therapist Role is specifically for the Eating Disorders Service.
Eating Disorders (7.8 beds) provides specialist inpatient care for people with an eating disorder, where both medical and psychological treatment is required. This Specialty Service offers a fulfilling and dynamic environment and opportunities to further your nursing career. Comprehensive treatment, multi-disciplinary functions across the inpatient and outpatient teams, and liaison with multiple agencies, are integral to service provision across the South Island.
About You
In this role, you will be responsible for:
- Occupational Therapy assessments and intentions predominately with eating disorder patients in inpatient care
- A focus on occupational performance skills and functional abilities specifically related to eating disorders.
- Consultant and liaison with other services around South Island
- Providing education and support to families
- Individual goal setting and treatment planning
- Assist in the content, development and facilitation of specific groups within the inpatient setting
Your skills will include:
- Theoretical knowledge and use of models in human occupation, occupational performance and environmental interactions
- Knowledge and experience in of group work processes
- Analysis and synthesis of activities including activities of daily living, vocation and leisure
- Sound understanding and ability in the use of purposeful activity to facilitate change and wellbeing.
- Knowledge and experience of eating disorders would be an advantage
