About the Role

This is an opportunity to join our Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery team at Christchurch Hospital for a 12-month Fellowship designed to support your transition into advanced subspecialty practice.

As the ORL Fellow – Head and Neck, you will provide high-quality, best-practice care to patients across our service, with exposure to a broad range of complex head and neck presentations.

You will undertake scheduled outpatient clinics alongside consultant colleagues, have opportunities to run your own operating lists, and participate in supervised operating sessions tailored to your individual training and career goals. The role also provides the opportunity to work collaboratively with Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery colleagues on complex cases.

Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will contribute to the teaching and supervision of advanced trainees, participate in the on-call roster and be encouraged to develop your academic interests. There is support available for research projects within your area of interest, including opportunities to progress work through to presentation or publication.

About the Team / Service / Location

Our Otolaryngology – Head and Neck service at Christchurch Hospital is part of a busy tertiary hospital environment providing specialist care to patients from across Canterbury and the wider South Island.

You will work alongside experienced ORL consultants, registrars and other members of the multidisciplinary team, with close links to our Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery services. This collaborative approach provides excellent exposure to complex head and neck pathology and surgery, while supporting a strong learning environment.

About You

As our ORL Fellow – Head and Neck, you will:

• Be a registered medical practitioner, ideally holding or soon to complete higher qualifications in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery through the Royal Colleges or an equivalent pathway.
• Hold, or be eligible to obtain, registration to practise in New Zealand prior to commencing the role.
• Have demonstrated experience in Otolaryngology and an interest in developing your expertise in Head and Neck Surgery.
• Be committed to continued learning and development, with the ability to work independently
