Pathologist Assistant
- Christchurch - Canterbury Health Laboratories - Histology Department
- Permanent, Part-Time, 64 hours per fortnight working Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri 0830-1700
- A perfect opportunity for an experienced Scientist/Pathologist Assistant to join a secondary/tertiary hospital laboratory team.

About the Role
Part of Canterbury Health Laboratories and based on the campus of Christchurch Hospital, the Anatomical Pathology Department is made up of a team of Medical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Pathologist Assistants, Pathologists, Registrars and administrative staff.
To be successful in joining our Histology team, you will be a highly motivated team player with excellent interpersonal skills and able to work as part of a team as well as independently. In addition, you will be organised and efficient with effective time management and communication skills.
As a Pathologist Assistant, you will be responsible for
- the direct transfer and dissection of non-complex specimens ready for processing, with the possibility of expanding to a variety of complex specimens (full on-site training will be given).
- Providing technical and scientific support
- Providing high-quality service to clients
- Carrying out techniques according to laboratory protocol
About you
Skills and experience:
- Be registered (or eligible for registration) as a Medical Laboratory Scientist with the New Zealand Medical Sciences Council
- Have a minimum 5 years experience working in an Histology laboratory
- Experience in the direct transfer and dissection of specimens for Histology testing (highly desirable)
