We are looking for a Qualified Pharmacist to join our team in Ashburton. This is an exciting and varied opportunity working within an experienced team who are all passionate about the health and wellbeing of the Canterbury community.

Pharmacy services across Waitaha are provided by a positive, friendly and inclusive team of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants and administrative staff.  We pride ourselves on delivering an outstanding service in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team.

The role is varied, and as a key member of a small team you will have the opportunity to participate in many aspects of pharmacy practice. 

Te Whatu Ora, Waitaha prides itself on supporting and developing our Pharmacists to help you reach your potential. This position has plenty of challenging opportunities and innovation is encouraged by peers, senior staff and management. The department provides regular continuing education and numerous other training opportunities.

Key tasks include:

  • Provision of a full clinical pharmacy service including medication reconciliation, therapeutic drug monitoring and answering medicines information enquiries.
  • Involvement in interdisciplinary education
  • Supervision, training and support of technicians, interns and students
  • Medication supply including dispensing and cytotoxic ordering

About You 

We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist with a good work ethic, enjoys working as part of a team, has excellent interpersonal skills and a strong desire to learn. Hospital experience is preferred but not mandatory.  If you are considering a switch to hospital and have a willingness to learn, you will find you are well supported with your transition.

Skills & Experience:

  • Qualified Pharmacist who is NZ registered or with the ability to obtain a New Zealand Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Hospital experience preferred but not essential
  • Good communication skills
  • Adaptable to changing team environments
  • Can demonstrate a positive learning mindset
