Pharmacy Technician Production

We are seeking a Pharmacy Technician to join our Production Unit within the Canterbury hospital pharmacy service. This role is part of a specialist production environment supporting patients receiving complex sterile and cytotoxic medicines.
You will work within the Production Unit, contributing to the safe and efficient dispensing, preparation and supply of sterile, non-sterile and cytotoxic medicines for both inpatients and outpatients. The role includes involvement in dispensing, stock management, clinical trial support and assisting with compounding activities.
You will work closely with pharmacists, senior technicians and the wider pharmacy team,as well as medical and nursing staff, to ensure medicines are supplied accurately, safely and on time. Clear communication, attention to detail and adherence to established processes are essential aspects of the role.
The position also includes supporting unit activities such as monitoring stock levels and expiry risk, managing returned medicines, assisting with clinical trial administration, and contributing to quality and safety initiatives including good catch reporting. There are opportunities to be involved in training and supporting staff new to the Production Unit.
You will be part of a collaborative and experienced pharmacy team that values quality,consistency and continuous improvement. The service places a strong emphasis on patient safety, compliance with standards, and supporting staff to work confidently within a highly regulated environment.
Key tasks include
- Dispensing inpatient and outpatient medication including clinical trials, compassionate supplies, home IV therapy, chemotherapy and sterile products
- Compounding sterile and non-sterile products
- Support in training of student technicians, intern and student pharmacists
About You
We are looking for a qualified pharmacy technician who is reliable, detail focused and comfortable working within structured systems. You will enjoy working as part of a team, have good communication and time management skills, and take pride in delivering a high quality service. Experience within a compounding or production unit is desirable

- Strong communication skills
- A Pharmacy Technician’s Certificate (level 5 minimum) is essential
