Physiotherapist – Adult Community Therapy Service

About the Role

he Adult Community Therapy Service (ACTS) delivers allied health services to adults aged 16-65 years in our community, with bases including the Burwood Hospital, Princess Margaret Hospital, Rangiora Hospital and Longhurst sites.

We are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist who is passionate about providing client centred care within an inter-disciplinary allied health team. This is a busy, diverse role working 24 hours per week, where you are guaranteed a varied case load and will work with clients and their support people at home, in the community and in clinic settings.

Work alongside an experienced physiotherapy team, with the opportunity to extend your knowledge and skills in areas including respiratory physiotherapy, spasticity management and seating/postural supports.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking Physiotherapy assessments and developing and implementing treatment plans, considered within a holistic IDT approach
  • Providing education and resources, where appropriate, to the client and their family/Whānau, as well as the wider interdisciplinary team
  • Prioritising, organising and managing a case load while allocating time appropriately
  • Engaging in service delivery reviews and associated quality improvement initiatives
  • Providing clinical leadership for junior staff, Allied Health assistants and students
  • Opportunity to work towards level 1 and 2 seating and wheelchair accreditation

About You

Your skills will include:

  • Experience working with adults with complex needs including a variety of neurological conditions is advantageous
  • Experience in respiratory physiotherapy is desirable, along with previous experience working in the community
  • Excellent skills working within teams and maintaining relationships with service providers in the community
  • The ability to work autonomously as well as build and nurture trusted relationships
  • As travel is required, a full NZ Driver’s License is essential
  • Registration with the NZ Physiotherapy Board and current Annual Practicing Certificate is essential
  • Seating and wheelchair experience is desirable
