About the Role

Here at Christchurch Hospital we are looking for an experienced Physiotherapist to join our Medical Specialties and Neurosciences team working across our Medical wards.

Our team work collaboratively together to assess and manage a wide range of presentations in General Medicine and the Medical Assessment Unit, while our wider team support each other to cover other specialties such as Acute Stroke, Neurosurgery, Neurology, Oncology and Haematology.

You will be actively involved in the education and training of 4th year undergraduate students and our junior rotational staff. You will need to be enthusiastic and confident in your clinical practice and have a collaborative communication style.  
You will be required to contribute to the weekend and on-call rosters.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Undertaking expert assessments, completing appropriate interventions and providing advice or referring to other services
  • Supervising and mentoring rotational staff and final year physiotherapy students
  • Helping to facilitate service improvements

About You

We are seeking an enthusiastic Physiotherapist to join our team, responsible for delivering comprehensive physiotherapy assessments and treatments for patients with diverse and complex conditions. The role involves developing patient-focused treatment programs and managing resources under the guidance of the Team Leader.

  • A broad range of experience, ideally including general medicine, respiratory and neurology
  • The ability to work collaboratively across the multi-disciplinary team
  • Enthusiasm and confidence in sharing your knowledge across your discipline
  • A working knowledge of quality improvement processes
  • Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māori or a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of your learning and growth 
  • Experience in projects / initiatives which give effect to Te Tiriti principals and frameworks, and the application of Mātauranga Māori and Kaupapa Māori approaches, particularly as they apply in healthcare settings
