Physiotherapist - Inpatient Rehabilitation


  • This is a part time fixed term role working 20 hours over 2.5 days currently planned as ½ day Wednesday, full day Thursday and Friday between 0800 and 1630. This may be negotiable
  • It is essential that you are a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current Annual Practicing Certificate
  • Based at Burwood Hospital

About the Role

Older Persons Health and Rehabilitation is a  based at Burwood Hospital and in the community. Currently this role is one of 3 Physiotherapists working on an Older Persons 20 bedded ward which is one of 4 Older Persons Inpatient wards. Together with 2 other part-time colleagues you will be responsible for carrying out effective patient assessments and formulating goal-based treatment plans. The patient cohort is elderly rehab and can be amputee , orthopaedic, or medical rehab, respiratory or patients with Neurological diagnoses. You are supported by a large team who work together and meet regularly as a cluster for in service training and cluster planning. You should be passionate about Older Persons Rehab, be a great team player and want to achieve the best outcomes for your patients.

 In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Carrying out effective patient assessment, evaluation and treatments in accordance with policies, procedures and standards of practice
  • Formulating treatment interventions to meet individual needs in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team
  • Ensuring effective communication with other members of the physiotherapy team and wider MDT team

About You

You are a New Zealand registered Physiotherapist with inpatient experience. To be successful in this role your skills will include:

  • The ability to hit the ground running with the energy and passion to deliver a high standard of care to patients
  • The ability to develop a close working relationship with physiotherapy assistants and the wider physiotherapy team
  • Flexibility and adaptability with an enthusiasm for knowledge sharing across and beyond your discipline
  • Flexibility to work in any of our rehabilitation areas depending on need in conjunction with the wider interdisciplinary teams
  • It is essential that you are a New Zealand Registered Physiotherapist with a current practicing certificate to be considered for this role
  • You will either be an existing ENABLE assessor or eligible for registration
  • You will be required to participate on the weekend roster, the amount, the day and the type of roster is negotiable
